Many of us get pulled into many directions. As individuals we are looking to drown out the noise within, constantly feeding it with the newest, nicest, and most recent thing on the market, easing the chatter and shouting for the shortest moments of what deceives to be empowering us. Then once that fills us, we are suddenly on the search again until something else grabs our attention, pulling us in, only to fail to satisfy the dire need screaming out from the depths of our soul.
Our world is always changing: we live in a time that changes minds frequently. We are caught up in all the worldly trends, such as new clothing, new cars, new slang, new phones, etc. We can get caught in a cycle of chasing the wind.
Once we are born again, however, we receive a new perspective deep within from the Holy Spirit, securely deposited within our spirit that needs to be brought up to the surface of the soul through communion, under the leading of the Father’s precious Spirit. This is how the Holy Spirit guides us. Many of us after being born again stay in a process called “carry-over” for years. Carry-over can be described as bringing all the things we learned and that were stamped/pressed into our being for years as we were in the darkness and not in His glorious light, and often we are still compelled by many of them.
If you feel stuck in the cycle of a constant roller coaster, there is help. There is one who gives us freedom from our thoughts and healing for the soul, but it is a choice. It is a choice you must be willing to take up every single day, even every moment, for this is the good fight. (2 Timothy 4:7) The carry-over of our past has perverted & distorted our perspective of the truth, blinding us from seeing the wonderful truth of God. But there is hope, child, there is one who desires and is powerful enough to transform the most defiled mind and heal the most hurt soul. His name is Jesus, and if you only will choose his truth over your feelings, you will find the freedom your soul cries out for constantly. He wants to so thoroughly wash you and purify your conscience through His Word that you can come before him boldly as a son or daughter, or before others boldly as an ambassador of the truth that He has sealed in you through his Spirit.
(Hebrews 9 & 10/ Ephesians 5:25-26)
Are you willing to choose? The process isn’t easy; it’s not a quick fix; rather, it’s a lifetime of saying every moment, “Your will, Lord, not mine” & “Have your way in me”. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed by the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. That by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good, acceptable, and perfect.” Letting His truth define you, despite your feelings, transforms you. Your feelings have become trained by the world for so many years and you have to choose to submit them to the truth, so that they can be placed under the leading of the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus tells us in John 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” When we choose to take up this journey of saying yes to Jesus, we say no to our past and all the previous ways that have trained our beings into doings, humbly laying down all we know, to be taught by God. We must put on the Word of God as our truth and our life. It must be what we regularly feast on, our only nourishment. You are a New Creation. You are a Son. You are a Daughter. You are Redeemed. You are held in his hands. You are Loved. You are Light. YOU ARE HIS.
Only the Lord can give harmony to the soul of man. (Matthew 11:28-30) You are chained to your feelings as long as you choose self over truth. The carnal life is even hostile to God, the Bible says. (Romans 8:7) But once we give the Lord Lordship over our spirit, and live a spirit-influenced life, instead of a flesh-influenced one. We begin the process of renewal, which is repentance, a lifetime of getting our perspective changed by the piercing truth of God. (Romans 8:1-2 & Romans 8:6)
Wherever you are today, begin by getting alone with the Father, even where you are right now, and choose by saying, “Father, thank you for revealing your truth in Jesus. I have been living too long swayed by my emotions. Lord, I choose today to live by your truth. Holy Spirit, I invite you to train me in your Word and to have your way in me. Enlighten the eyes of my heart, so that I may see clearly. No matter what it takes, I want to be obedient to your Word. So prune me, search me, and test my heart, Lord. I choose by faith to trust you to bring under control the storm inside and to train me in righteousness through your life-giving word. I thank you for doing this for me, and I receive it humbly by faith, because your Word says you hold me and take care of me and I believe it. Have your way in me Father….”
When you get alone, pray the Word back to God, putting it on by faith. Choose by faith to trust that your Father is transforming you, thanking him always that He is taking care of you. Allow the potter to reshape and mold you into the very image you were created to bare. Posture your heart on his grace, and let it empower you to be transformed. (Hebrews 13:9) You are the light of the world, child, now go out and shine for the King of Kings. He is your Lord and in control. (Matthew 5:16)
